Material Characteristics:
Gray cast iron: is one of the commonly used materials for cast iron drum bearing housing, the grade is usually HT200, this material has good shock absorption performance, can absorb the vibration generated during the operation of the equipment, reduce the impact on the surrounding components; and through the casting process is easy to obtain a variety of shapes, to meet the needs of different designs; has the appropriate strength to meet the requirements of the use of the general working conditions. However, the toughness of gray cast iron is poor, for impact load is more sensitive, in the larger impact may appear rupture and so on.
Ductile cast iron: some high-performance cast iron roller bearing housing will use ductile cast iron material, such as QT400 or 450. ductile cast iron's comprehensive performance is close to steel, with high strength, high toughness, high abrasion resistance and high plasticity, etc., can withstand higher loads and stresses, suitable for working conditions of the more demanding occasions. But relatively speaking, the production cost of ductile iron will be higher than gray cast iron.
Structural design:
Shape and size: cast iron roller bearing housing has a variety of shapes, common square, round and so on. Its size depends on the specifications of the matching roller and bearing to ensure that it can be accurately installed and provide stable support. For example, for small conveying equipment, a smaller size bearing housing may be used; while for large industrial machinery, the size of the bearing housing will be increased accordingly.
Mounting methods: generally there are bolt fixing, welding and other mounting methods. Bolt fixing is the more common installation method, by reserving bolt holes on the bearing housing, using bolts to fix it on the equipment frame or support structure, easy to install and dismantle, convenient for maintenance and replacement; welding method is to weld the bearing housing directly to the steel structure of the equipment, a solid connection, but subsequent dismantling and maintenance is relatively difficult.
Matching accuracy: the inner hole of the housing and the outer diameter of the bearing need to have a high matching accuracy to ensure that the bearing can be accurately installed in the housing, and in the process of operation will not appear loose, shaking and so on. Usually, according to the size and accuracy grade of the bearing, the corresponding size and tolerance range of the housing bore will be designed.
Functional characteristics:
Support function: Provide stable support for the drum, bear the weight of the drum and various forces generated during operation, including radial force, axial force and so on. Ensure that the drum can operate in the correct position to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
Lubrication function: some cast iron roller bearing housing will be designed with oiling holes or oil grooves and other structures to facilitate lubrication of bearings. Good lubrication can reduce the friction between bearings and bearing housings, reduce wear and prolong the service life of bearings and bearing housings.
Sealing performance: a certain degree of sealing performance, can prevent dust, impurities, moisture and so on into the bearing housing, to avoid pollution and damage to the bearing. Usually, sealing elements such as sealing rings and sealing caps are used to cooperate with the structure of the bearing housing to form an effective sealing system.
